The Drive to Keep Pushing: Not All Change Is Bad

The Journey Isn't Always Easy

Building something from the ground up is never easy. When I started BCray Productions, I had a vision: to create a place where people could express themselves, tell their stories, showcase their talents, and turn their creative dreams into reality.

What I didn't fully understand was just how much patience, sacrifice, and determination it would take to bring that vision to life.

There are days when everything seems to be moving in the right direction, and then there are days when I sit back and wonder if people truly understand what I'm trying to build.

But one thing about me is that I don't give up easily.

After serving 24 years in the United States Army, I learned that leadership isn't about everything going according to plan. It's about adapting, overcoming obstacles, and continuing the mission even when things get difficult.

And that's exactly what I'm doing with BCray Productions.

Not All Change Is Bad

One of the biggest lessons I've learned throughout this journey is that change isn't always a bad thing.

People come into your life for different reasons. Some are meant to stay for the entire journey, while others are only meant to be part of a particular chapter.

And that's okay.

As BCray Productions continues to grow, things are going to change. Team members may move on, responsibilities may shift, and sometimes I have to make decisions that aren't easy.

I've learned that I can't allow those changes to stop the mission.

Sometimes change brings new opportunities, new ideas, and new energy that you didn't even realize you needed.

Growth requires change, and sometimes you have to get comfortable being uncomfortable.

Welcoming Shawn to The Link Up Family

Speaking of change, I'm excited to welcome our newest team member, Shawn, to The Link Up family!

I'm genuinely happy to have him on board.

Shawn brings a different personality, a fresh perspective, and new energy to the show. That's something I believe every successful production needs. We don't all have to think alike, agree on everything, or have the same personality.

In fact, those differences are what make great conversations and entertaining content.

The Link Up has always been about bringing people together to discuss real-life issues, share opinions, laugh, and sometimes agree to disagree.

Having Shawn join the team is another opportunity for us to grow and take the show in a new direction.

I'm looking forward to seeing what he brings to the table and how we continue to develop our chemistry as a team.

Welcome to the family, Shawn. I'm glad you're here!

The Struggle of Building a Team Without a Budget

Now, here's one of the biggest challenges I'm facing as the owner of BCray Productions.

Finding people who believe in the vision enough to collaborate with us while we're still building.

Right now, we're looking for video editors and audio/video engineers who can help us continue producing quality content.

But there's one major obstacle.

We don't have the money to pay people yet.

And I understand how that sounds.

People have bills. People have families. People have responsibilities. Their time, knowledge, and skills are valuable, and I would never want anyone to feel that their work isn't worth being compensated.

Because it absolutely is.

At the same time, I'm trying to build a company that will eventually be in a position to provide paid opportunities, create jobs, support local talent, and contribute something positive to our community.

It's a difficult position to be in.

I have the vision. I have invested in equipment. I have a studio. I have multiple shows. And I have the drive to keep going.

But what I don't have right now is the financial backing to hire the production team that I know we need.

That can be frustrating.

Sometimes people see what you're building and assume that because you have cameras, microphones, lights, and a studio, you must have money coming in.

What they don't see are the sacrifices behind the scenes.

They don't see the personal money invested, the late nights editing videos, the countless hours troubleshooting equipment, the planning, the scheduling, or the work that goes into keeping everything moving.

Having a business doesn't automatically mean you're making a profit.

Right now, we're still in the building stage.

I respect anyone who says they cannot afford to work without pay. I don't take that personally. And I know that if we want skilled people to take on regular production responsibilities, we need to develop the funding to compensate them fairly.

Until then, I'm focused on building relationships, finding genuine collaborators for appropriate projects, and securing sponsors who can help us grow.

The Vision Is Bigger Than Me

BCray Productions was never meant to be just about me.

It's about creating opportunities for others.

Through The Link Up, Black Excellence 757, Next Generation Bros, BCray News, and our other productions, I want to build a platform where voices can be heard and talents can be recognized.

I want local entrepreneurs to have a place to share their journeys.

I want independent artists to have an opportunity to showcase their music.

I want young people to learn about media, teamwork, communication, and creativity.

And eventually, I want BCray Productions to become a company where editors, engineers, producers, hosts, and other creative professionals can earn a living doing something they love.

But getting there isn't going to happen overnight.

Sometimes You Have to Be Your Own Motivation

One thing I've realized is that everyone isn't going to see your vision the way you see it.

Some people will support you.

Some will question you.

Some will walk away.

And some will show up when you least expect it.

But at the end of the day, you have to believe in what you're building, even when the support isn't there.

There have been moments when I've felt overwhelmed trying to manage the technical side, the business side, and the creative side of BCray Productions.

But then I look around the studio and remember when all of this was just an idea.

Now it's real.

We have a studio. We have shows. We have guests. We have content being published. We're making connections throughout the 757 community.

No, we're not where I want us to be financially.

No, we don't have everything figured out.

And yes, there are still plenty of challenges ahead.

But we're further along than we were when we started.

And that means something.

I'm Not Stopping Now

As I continue this journey, I'm learning to appreciate the people who genuinely want to be part of what we're building.

I'm learning that it's okay to make adjustments.

I'm learning that not everyone who starts the journey with you will finish it with you.

Most importantly, I'm learning that not all change is bad.

Sometimes change is exactly what you need to move forward.

To Shawn, welcome again to The Link Up family. I'm excited about what we're going to accomplish together.

To everyone who has supported BCray Productions, whether you've appeared on a show, shared a video, subscribed to a channel, offered advice, or simply encouraged me to keep going, thank you.

And to the editors, engineers, sponsors, and creative minds out there who believe in helping build something meaningful, I hope our paths cross as we continue growing.

I'm not looking for overnight success.

I'm looking to build something that lasts.

The dream is still alive. The vision hasn't changed. And the drive to keep pushing is stronger than ever.

This journey is far from over.
